Their already excellent relations were even further improved by signing a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Defence and the town of Kecskemét. The signatories of the document were Minister of Defence Tibor Benkő and Mayor of Kecskemét Klaudia Pataki Szemereyné, in the Ministry’s Balaton Street building on 30th January.
Mayor Klaudia Pataki Szemereyné emphasized that similarly to the residents of the town she feels that Kecskemét is one of the safest settlements in the country, thanks to the soldiers. “We would like to provide further assistance for the forces, particularly by addressing the youth, so that the love and protection of the homeland were also important for young people,” she said.
Tibor Benkő expressed his great satisfaction that the presence and work of the soldiers gives the locals a sense of security. He emphasized that the soldiers, who have ensured cooperation for decades, do their service not only at domestic but also international levels. The Minister of Defence emphasized that building and maintaining public relations are extremely important for the Hungarian Defence Forces.
“The Hungarian Defence Forces is based on society; and it is extremely important that society could feel this and appreciate soldiers. In my opinion, the cooperation that has existed so far and which we are now fixing on paper is exemplary,” he said.
Prior to the signing of the cooperation agreement, the Minister of Defence announced that the Hungarian Defence Forces would be preparing an international air show in 2021, for which it had already been granted the support of the government.
